MISC Engagement Program

MISC? What is MISC? Many friends of mine don't know what this 4 letter words mean when i tell them. Anyway, that's never mind because now i am going to tell what it mean.

MISC stand for Malaysia International Shipping Corporation Berhad.
It's a modern and well-diversified relatively young fleet (with an average age of less than 10 years old) of more than 100 vessels with a combined tonnage of more than 8 million tonnes.

Here are some features that may attract you:
MISC is Largest Single owner-operator of LNG carriers in the world.
MISC is Second Largest owner-operator of Aframax tankers in the world.

And for your information, Petroliam National Berhad (PETRONAS) is the main shareholder of MISC. Petronas hold a total of 62.44% of issued share capital of MISC. So, indirectly, MISC is also a subsidiary company under Petronas.

Melaka Trip

Yeah!!! I reach Melaka at last after study it for ages. A landmark for the olden days of Malaya under the Portuguese days. Leave my footprints on this historic land on 24 April 2008.
From left: Pei Ling, Siaw Ping, Evelyn and me.
Such a wonderful moment we got in the garden in front of the museum. Taken under the shade trees.
Museum of Melaka - Istana Kesultanan Melaka
A great structure to discover...
A giant ship museum.
Ship in the olden days.

In front of the Istana Kesultanan Melaka Museum

The Menara Taming Sari is the high post behind us. Hahaha...
Eating satay celup at Capitol, one of the favourite tourist spot. It's a dish where the raw meat or vegetables is put into the satay sauce to be boiled and cooked like steamboat. So, the aroma of satay is all over the shop. This is only in Melaka!!! Haha. See the people queue up waiting for seat to be allocated? Then you can imagine how popular this shop is...
Yeah!!! I am the one taking the tray. That day i ate more than 30 sticks of satay celup. By courtesy from Pei Ling, she treats us all. Hahaha.. Thanks little girl, we all have a great moment having the "satay-celup dinner". Haha.. Miss it so much...
Inside the Menara Taming Sari "lift" which brought us up to about 80 metres high. I with my tired face but still with my action post-the V.
Taken in front of Saint Church Melaka- a historic red building. A monument which is the symbolic of the Malay Sultanate of Melaka. Anyone who ever study the history of Malaysia sure will never forget this building.
A shot with the windmill.. But how come got windmill in melaka? or is it a relation between Melaka and Holland once they ever place their foot here? Maybe... Hahaha..
This is the great chef i ever met.

An artistic shot with the fountain in front of Saint Church Melaka.

Leaving my footprints at one of the oldest town in Malaysia, study about Melaka history ages ago but only come here on 26.04.2008.

Leveling

24 July 2008, getting my sixth choice in USM for my Civil Engineering course, my dad gives me my 1st impression of it - gotta stay under hot sun measuring the road level. It's very common to see civil students wearing safety vest playing around with the tripod around the campus during 2nd year 1st sem. We have to spend 5 hours under sun to play with our toys.

Our toys include a LEICA NA720 level telescope, 2 staffs of 5 metres long and the tripod of course. Setting up the tripod and positioning the bubble is our main task, but i can done all in just less than 1 minute provided all instruments is in good condition. But i am so disappointed with our 1st assignment, leveling from TBM 1 (Temporary Benchmark) to TBM 4 and back to TBM1, our misclosure is 230 cm = 2300 mm whereby our acceptable misclosure is only 8 mm!!! Oh my goodness!!! Can u imagine how far we deflect? So, what to do, we are awarded another 5 hours playing with our toys. The 2nd assignment is better, after some adjustment, our misclosure is only 3 mm. Such a great improvement. haha. Such a tiring day because we start work at 8am and end class at 7pm, exactly ten hours of torturing period.
